Following the success of our first gig (Stealing Sheep) we’re excited to bring some more live music to Warrington Museum & Art Gallery. This is an amazing opportunity to experience live music in an intimate relaxed setting as well as explore the galleries after hours. Our next gig is with Norwegian musician Sara Woof and her band, plus support from Astles and the Balloon Moon Orchestra

Sara Woolf

Weaving together words, intimate guitar chords, choral harmonies and sometimes loud distortion, Sara Wolff creates songs that are playful, intimate and brutally honest. She released her debut EP, When You Left The Room, in 2021. It is an EP about fraying relationships and botched social interactions, recalling the off-kilter approach of Fiona Apple and Cate Le Bon.

With continuous support from local promoters she has shared stages with artists like Fenne Lily, Held Negro, Peter Broderick and Group Listening, with her music broadcast on BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio and Radio Ireland.

Astles and the Balloon Moon Orchestra

Dan Astles’ songwriting celebrates the refuge of music to a young lad in the North West, surrounded by football-focussed men and machismo — to which his music is the perfect antidote. For two years, Astles has been working independently to create the world around his music: from the upcoming string releases recorded with Sophie Ellis and Bill Ryder Jones, to the expansion of his live show, at points featuring the full Balloon Moon Orchestra. The Liverpool-based songwriter is back with a spring in his step and a collection of songs that furthers his formative sound, described as “gorgeous, lilting indie” by the NME. Having recently signed to 7476 (Matt Maltese, Mathilda Mann), Astles released his latest single on the label Somebody’s Father, Somebody’s Son in September, whilst embarking on a tour of the UK, booked in collaboration with Bed and Breakfast Promotions, and funded by the PRS foundation.

Reviews for our previous gig at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery

“Loved this museum as a child and just went to see Stealing Sheep (and other bands) at their first-ever gig in the museum! It was brilliant! Really hope they do it again, lovely friendly staff.”

“Some really interesting exhibits to see plus a great gig at the same time”
