An exhibition of drawings and painting by local artist Jan Newhouse. This new body of work came about through the artist’s experience of walking through the landscapes of Great Sankey and Penketh.
“The walking was the need to get some exercise into my life. The walking became less of an effort as observing and drawing became part of the daily activity. Over time, as the walking progressed, I became more aware of the changing season and the actives that went on in the landscape. The start of the farming year, as the winter wheat is harvested, and summer crops are planted. The realisation that other creatures live in the landscape, and are not just seen on TV. For me it was the siting of hairs boxing in the middle of a field of new green shoots. The idea that ten thousand steps is a goal that reached will enhance a level of fitness. It could also describe the journey through drawing and seeing, that ends up with a finished painting.”
