Join artist Marie Jones for a series of unique workshops across three weekends at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery. As part of this summer’s Warrington Arts Festival, Marie will be creating a life-size knitted replica of her Grandma’s house which will go on display in Parr Hall… and she needs your help!

Machine Knitting: Help Build Grandma’s House!

Experience working with Marie’s digitally hacked electronic knitting machines, a rare opportunity right here in Warrington! Contribute to the “Grandma’s House” artwork by knitting sections of the installation.
Your participation will be logged by the knitting machines, and you’ll receive a special invitation to a unique performance at Parr Hall during this year’s Warrington Arts Festival, where the knitted house will be displayed.

Personal Trainer: Get Fit While You Knit!

Start your day with a unique warm-up! A personal trainer will guide you through bespoke exercises designed to prepare your body for machine knitting. This is a brand new concept, designed to make crafting more comfortable.

Mending with Lucianne Canavan

Learn valuable mending skills from expert Lucianne Canavan. Grandma will also be on hand to assist with sewing the knitted panels, creating a collaborative and engaging experience.

Crafternoons

Join us for themed crafternoon sessions, each exploring different aspects of “Home”:
5 & 6 April: Design Your Future Home.
3 & 4 May: Design a Flag.
17 & 18 May: Body Maps.
These activities are inspired by the forthcoming group exhibition running from June to August, showcasing female perspectives on the theme of “Home”.
Your creations can be displayed in the museum alongside the main exhibition.

Quiet Corner

Enjoy a moment of tranquility in our dedicated quiet corner, featuring a curated selection of books on the theme of “Home,” courtesy of the library.
