Volunteering Opportunities
Culture Warrington is pleased to offer a variety of volunteering opportunities whatever your interest or availability. For those who are primarily interested in arts and entertainment we can offer roles as a Cultural Ambassador, as a Sales and Marketing Volunteer or as a Venue Management Assistant Volunteer. If heritage is more your thing then a variety of roles are available with opportunities in family history, outreach, reminiscence, research, cataloguing or transcription.
Activities Volunteers

If you have an interest in arts and crafts you might like to become an Activities Volunteer and assist the Visitor Services Team in the preparation and delivery of craft activities for children, families and adults. Observing and working with a broad range of customers with a variety of needs you will assist in making our craft sessions welcoming and enjoyable.

IMPORTANT NOTICE Please note that we currently have a full team of digitisation and cataloguing volunteers and so any applications will be placed on a waiting list until an opportunity becomes available.
If you enjoy working with IT and would welcome the opportunity to handle items from the museum and archive collections you might consider becoming a Digitisation and Cataloguing Volunteer. Digitisation and Cataloguing Volunteers assist the museum and archives staff with the cataloguing, indexing and digitisation of items from the collections i.e. microfilms, photographs and ephemera. Digitisation and Cataloguing Volunteers also scan, research and index items from the collection, gathering information and adding details to our databases to enable researchers to access information more efficiently.
Exhibitions Volunteers

If you have an interest in museums and galleries you may be interested in working with the Exhibitions Officer at Culture Warrington, where you’d help support the research, design, curation and delivery of our exhibitions and supporting events. The exhibitions programme covers a wide range of subjects and styles including but not limited to art exhibitions, from traditional to contemporary. With your help and enthusiasm we will widen the appeal of our programme and deliver high-quality, engaging experiences for our visitors.
Family History Helpdesk Volunteers

If you have an interest in family history and have a couple of hours to spare a week you may consider becoming a Family History Volunteer and assist members of the public with their online family history searches. Our Family History Volunteers will advise on the use of family history resources such as Ancestry and support members of the public in finding answers to the questions they have been struggling with.
Outreach Volunteers

If you enjoy working with the public and you’re available at weekends during the spring and summer months you might consider becoming an Outreach Volunteer to assist Culture Warrington staff in promoting Culture Warrington at events and engaging with the community.
Venue Management Assistant Volunteers

If you enjoy working as part of a team you might consider becoming a Venue Management Assistant Volunteer and assist the Venue Management Team in the smooth and safe running of events by undertaking various stewarding tasks in order to ensure the best customer experience at Culture Warrington’s venues.
Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to the delivering and running of art projects and this is a fantastic chance to get involved in an exciting and energetic arts festival. The Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival hopes to draw on its previous success and grow to be even more vibrant festival year on year. Due to commence October 2022, this month-long arts festival will showcase the creative talent of local, regional and national artists. The festival will be packed with performances, exhibitions, events, workshops, screenings, talks and tours.
Culture Warrington are looking for volunteers to help us deliver the festival. The team are looking for volunteers to assist in various roles such as Events Programme Assistants and Visitor Supports.
If you have a hands-on attitude and a friendly and approachable manner and are able to work on your own initiative, this volunteer opportunity is one for you!
