CALL OUT: LGBTQ+ artists sought for Scratch

Earlier this year, we were delighted to relaunch Culture Warrington’s ‘Scratch Night’. Now, following its success, we’re excited to return as part of the Warrington Pride programme and celebrations with our next event on 12 June.

That’s where you come in – as we’re currently searching for artists take part. So if you are based in the north west and are part of the LGBTQ+ community – this is your opportunity to present your work-in-progress to a supportive live audience and have the chance to gather valuable feedback for your project’s development.

We aim to present work from a diverse range of artists including but not limited to those who specialise in theatre, comedy, spoken word, dance and music.

Performed in an informal and relaxed environment, we’re looking for creatives who have developed an idea that is ready to be trialed on stage after a process of research and development.

Following each sharing, creatives will be able to ask audience questions to gain feedback and insight for further development of their work as well as written feedback which will be collected at the end of the night.

Could this be for you?

We are looking for:

  • Work created for a live audience.
  • Short new pieces, which have had little or no previous audience exposure (or an excerpt from longer work).

Proposals should be for pieces that are:

  • Between five and 20 minutes maximum in duration.
  • Require basic tech.
  • Self-supporting in terms of props/set/equipment.

Culture Warrington will also offer a £150 fee per work presented.

To apply:

  • Please complete our short Google Forms application here which should include a video of your past/current work linked via a shared drive or social media platform.
  • Deadline: Midnight on 12 May 2025.

Please note:

You will have time to rehearse in the space before the performance and a dedicated technical rehearsal.

You will have access to a PA system and a basic lighting wash across the performance space.

Selection process:

Selection will be led by the Culture Warrington team based on the strength of the artistic idea, the suitability for this particular event and for technical and logistical feasibility. Good luck!
