Call out: Artists sought for Scratch Night

Culture Warrington’s Scratch Night is back!

Mark your calendars for the return of this springboard for emerging talent on Thursday, 27 March, at Parr Hall.

We’re currently searching for artists take part so – if you are based in the north west – this is your opportunity to present your work in progress to a supportive live audience and gather valuable feedback.

A Scratch Night gives performing artists and companies the opportunity to showcase their newly developed work to receive peer review and audience feedback.

We aim to present work from a diverse range of artists including but not limited to those who specialise in theatre, comedy, spoken word, dance and music.

Performed in an informal and relaxed environment, we’re looking for creatives who have early works in progress that are ready to be trialed on stage after a process of research and development.

Following each sharing, creatives will be able to ask audience questions to gain feedback and insight for further development of their work as well as written feedback which will be collected at the end of the night.

Could this be you?

We are looking for:

  • Work created for a live audience.
  • Short new pieces, which have had little or no previous audience exposure (or an excerpt from longer work).

Proposals should be for pieces that are:

  • Between five and 20 minutes maximum in duration
  • Require basic tech.
  • Self-supporting in terms of props/set/equipment.

Culture Warrington will also offer a £150 fee per work presented.

To Apply:

Please complete our short Google Forms application here which should include a video of your past/current work linked via a shared drive or social media platform.

Deadline: 19 February 2025.

Please note:

You will have time to rehearse in the space before the performance and a dedicated technical rehearsal.

You will have access to a PA system and a basic lighting wash across the performance space.

Selection process:

Selection will be led by the Culture Warrington team based on the strength of the artistic idea, the suitability for this particular event and for technical and logistical feasibility.
