Central Warrington residents invited to help shape area’s future

The Warrington Central Area regeneration masterplan project launched in October 2018 and will produce a plan that will guide development, investment and projects in the central areas of the borough for the next 25-30 years. It is a real chance to shape the future of central Warrington.

The areas mainly covered by the masterplan are the wards of: Bewsey and Whitecross, Fairfield and Howley, Orford, Latchford East, Latchford West, and Poplars and Hulme.

During the first round of engagement through November and December 2018, almost 1,000 people filled in surveys and attended events giving views and making suggestions about their area.

A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said: “We are now going into a second phase of engagement where we would like to feed back the ideas that came out of phase one, check these back with the community, and ensure that the emerging vision is right and the projects which are being put forward reflect people’s ambitions for the area they want to live in.”

Over the next few months there will be lots of ways that people who live or work in the area can get involved, have their say, design, prioritise and influence the ideas and projects that get taken forward into the future.

Phase two events are due to begin on Wednesday 6 March and will continue until early April.

Anyone who lives or works in the central area is invited to attend one of the events; alternatively it is possible to feed back via the online survey or Facebook page.
